I woke up to this much-anticipated package at the door yesterday two days ago: a Chinese "Sea Monkeys" knock-off kit. It features original art, but the photo on the box appears to be from somewhere else, featuring the "Ghostly Galleon" Sea Monkeys tank and packets that look more like the official Sea Monkeys packets than anything. Some info about "Sea Dragon." Surprisingly well-translated instructions. "Sea Dragons Coming from Powder" Showing the little tank and the packets as they're packaged. Wait a minute, those packets look familiar... The plot thickens! Those are 100% the packets from a previously-known South Korean Sea Monkey knock-off. So this is a Chinese bootleg Sea Monkeys kit, featuring a South Korean bootleg Sea Monkeys kit. Bootleg-ception. All in Korean, no English translations whatsoever on the packets themselves. This weird repackage does include a pretty neat little tank. I like it. Well, Packets 1&2 (aka the only packet other than the food) is now mixed in with some distilled water. Now we wait! I'll update as things develop.

Day 2 Update:
Holy smokes, in less than 24 hours there were a bunch of free-swimming nauplii in the tank! Way better than the other Chinese kit I've been attempting. Now to see how long I can keep them alive.
(Sorry for the letterboxing; I completely forgot to set my phone camera back from "Instagram" settings.)

Day 3 Update:
There's so many babies swimming around in there! It remains to be seen how long they survive, but so far so good!

This is fantastic, Key! I am seriously excited for continued updates as to what these guys become. Here in the US we deal primarily with Artemia salina (and nyos if there's any truth to the self-started Sea Monkey rumor of their having cross bred a unique species designed for aquarium dwelling).. but there 9 total species around the globe including some real interesting gems like Artemia monica or the frosty white Artemia parthenogenetica. Based on how they hatched and move, I am fairly certain you may have a different species than the common salina.

Day 4 Update:
They got fed for the first time today! I'm wary of the food included in these bootleg kits after bad experiences with the My Prehistoric Creatures kit, so today they got a bit of spirulina, and in a few days I'll give them some chlorella as a supplement.
I'm definitely enjoying this kit; it's much better than the "My Prehistoric Creatures" kit I've struggled to get going a couple times now. I hadn't really considered that they'd be anything other than regular old artemia salina myself! I guess time will tell.

Day 5 Update:
Forgive me for not posting this yesterday; I have the stomach flu and was really out of it all day yesterday.
No big developments, really. I didn't overfeed, no apparent die-off after feeding. Honestly, they seem to be doing just fine!

Day 6 Update:
The video is a little out of focus; sorry about that! But the nauplii are doing well and growing fast! I'm impressed with how many are still alive given the die-off rate of so many of these kits.

Day 7 Update:
Still going strong! They'll probably get a bit of chlorella tomorrow.
This is also probably the last of my daily uploads for this kit. I'll probably reduce it to weekly, or at least every few days, instead of every single day. We'll see how it develops.

Key- what a great set and video documentation. As they've grown into adults they look closer to Artemia salina but I can't be positive. There are a few different species located around Asia that may have made initial harvesting easier than importing cysts from elsewhere. It's always so tough to tell with the brine variants; they all look really similar.
Also what crisp footage you've been able to take! Assuming you are using a dedicated camera and not just a cell?

Thank you so much! I've really been enjoying putting these videos together. :) I have no idea if they're salina or not, but I'm going to keep documenting them at least until they're full-grown.
And thank you! Lol, no, I've been using my phone; a Samsung Galaxy S9. I keep telling myself I'll break out the real camera, but to be honest my cell phone probably takes better photo/video at this point. I do have a nice webcam but I haven't experimented with it yet. Maybe I will this week.
